Show me what to expect on Stripe's screens
Stripe walks you through a few screens to verify your identity and collect bank info for payouts. A couple of points that often confuse sellers:
- "Website or product description" — If you don't have a personal website, choose the "describe your product" option and write something like "Selling my items on the BuyRentBorrow™ marketplace."
- "Save account with Link" — This is an optional Stripe feature that has nothing to do with BuyRentBorrow™. You can safely click the X to skip it — your payout setup still works normally. If Stripe asks again, choose "Exit."
- Identity verification — Stripe asks for your legal name, date of birth, address, and last 4 digits of your SSN. This is required by US regulations for anyone receiving payouts. Your info is stored encrypted by Stripe; BuyRentBorrow™ never sees it.
- Bank account or debit card — This is where your payouts land. Use a US bank account or debit card in your own name.
